Holistic Care Questions

There are a lot of questions that people have when visiting a new Reflexologist / Holistic Therapist.
Below are some of the most common questions people have. If something is still unclear, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Do you help treat terminal or chronic illness?

As a holistic treatment it is an alternative method and individuals will benefit from the sessions, reflexology does not claim to cure but to help improve the body functions. Reflex Zone Therapy works to normalize the functioning of internal organs and systems of the body

Is Reflexology a sure method of diagnosis?

Presence (or absence) of pain at a particular spot on foot cannot be taken as an unfailing indication of presence (or absence) of disease in the corresponding organ. The symptoms of the patient, the clinical findings of the doctor and reports of investigations have to be co-related with the pain at a spot on a foot before diagnosis can be arrived at.

What happens during the treatment and after?

During treatment you may experience:

  • A feeling of deep relaxation and the desire to sleep

  • Sensations of the body expanding and spreading out as it relaxes

  • Twitching or tingling

  • Warmth in the area of the body being worked on

Generally after the treatment you will feel relaxed and possibly a little tired. Rest or quiet time may be needed for 10 minutes to even a couple of hours to allow the body to rest and restore.

What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is a science with the principal understanding that there are reflex points on the feet, hands and ears that relate to all organs, glands and parts of the body. By the application of pressure to these reflexes using gentle thumb/finger movements the body’s function may be influenced.

Sometimes foot creams/powders/tools may be used depending on reflexology style received.

Reflexology has been found to be effective in:

  • relieving pain

  • reducing stress and tension

  • generally restoring the body to a better state of harmony, health and homeostasis
